Photographer Ellen Altes Gregory is from New York City via Los Angeles. At the end of 1990, she roamed the country for two years, searching for a new frontier where she could have a better life and enjoy "fresher air to breathe." When she arrived in Fayetteville, Gregory felt "an overwhelming at-home feeling, like I had been here before." She settled in Fayetteville, enamored with the high quality of life, reasonable cost of living, Walton Arts Center and abundant photographic opportunities.
"I have a unique eye and knew from an early age that the camera and photography would be my art form," admits Gregory. For as long as I can remember I carried a camera in my bag." Gregory is a volunteer photographer for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) classes and the volunteer event photographer for the Fayetteville Senior Activity Center. Additionally, she has been an active volunteer for the Walton Arts Center since 1993. Her work has been featured at both the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and at the Arts Center of the Ozarks.
